Ed Allen

A Fourth Generation Logger

OUR STORY

Ed Allen has spent a lifetime buying and selling logs, following in the footsteps of his great-grandfather, grandfather and dad.

While he's been based in St. Peter for decades few knew of his business, which focused on selling whole logs to buyers around the world, mostly for use as veneer.

But now he's opened a showroom, Ed Allen Designs, where he is selling slab tables and other furniture.

Allen has plenty of material to keep the shop busy — he has 3,000 kiln-dried slabs in storage that he's sawn over the years. His slab saw can cut pieces up to 66 inches wide and 32 feet long.

With over 50 years of experience, the team at Ed Allen Designs comes from a long line of woodworkers that have passed down their passion for furniture design and fabrication, sharing appreciation and best practices to the generations that followed in their footsteps.

Believing that every tree has beauty, no matter what phase of life, Ed Allen Designs believes every tree should have a second life, showing salvaged wood has life beyond its initial purpose. Ed Allen Designs takes great pride in producing a custom piece or art for any home…a beautiful piece of furniture that can be cherished for generations to come.

Ed Allen Designs has access to the largest and finest variety of North American hardwoods available.  Carefully scrutinized and selected to ensure each piece is uniquely attractive, Ed Allen Designs has a plentiful supply of sustainability-sourced walnut, oak, white oak, big leaf maple, cherry and other hardwoods.
